"...And flowers will sprout on the ashes"

Ukrainian artists Alina and Karina Gaeva,
creators of the GA.EVA brand, are collaborating on an art installation.

Fashion. Art.

A project that combines form and meaning. The value of the ornament on the clothes is enhanced by the incredibly fine calligraphy of the font and inscriptions. The artists emphasize the deep meanings that grow deep into the history of Ukraine, a powerful state, interpreting it into the modern reality of the country.

Alina Gaeva

The graphic works of Alina Gaeva are based on the rethinking of various embroidery techniques of the Ukrainian Cossack officers of the XVII - XVIII centuries.

The embroidery that adorned the clothes of the Cossack military and administrative governing body was built on the materials of the collection of the Chernihiv Historical Museum. V.V. Tarnowski.

Karina Gaeva

Karina Gaeva's clothing collection borders on modern reality and the times of the great Ukrainian princesses of the beginning of the XI century. due to the rethinking of men's military clothing of Cossack officers of the XVII - XVIII centuries.

Transformation of women's outerwear models into decorative women's capes with the use of traditional fabric decoration techniques: beater and hand embroidery.

Ornament

An ornament is a pattern with its own code, which is a genetic amulet of the Ukrainian nation.

It is a rather complex system, which is created from various elements, signs and symbols that interact with each other and create a holistic energy picture, which is deeply difficult to understand today.

Both at the simplest and at the most difficult stages in the development of ornament, the Ukrainian people turn to native nature, but not just copy the surrounding reality, but process, simplify, stylize and create their own unique style.

Fashion

Beater - an ancient Ukrainian technology of fabric decoration known since the X-XI centuries.

To do this, use a wooden board, on the smooth surface of which carved decorative patterns.

The wooden form was covered with liquid paint and pressed to the fabric - the fabric left an imprint of patterns. The patterns of the beater that adorn the clothes of the designer's collection "… And flowers will sprout on the ashes" are fragments of the artist's graphic works.
